The fan is the largest contributor to noise generated by an ACC.

Fan speed and fan blade profile impact the noise produced by the fan. Also the surface beneath the ACC can impact the noise projected toward the property line.

If duct noise is an issue, perhaps it needs to be insulated.

A lot of plants find it cheaper to plant trees and shrubs at the plant perimeter rather than pay for an engineered solution.

Gary said this very well, and Ray has a very practical point.

Fans can be executed in low, to very-low to ultra-low-noise execution.

The lower noise profiles allow both lower RPM's and can implement special shapes.

The surface quality of the blades is crucial to reduce noise as smooth surfaces produce much less noise than sharp edges. Hand lay up methods excell in this regard as they provide very smooth surfaces and allow maximum freedom in blade contour design.
